COVID Secure Policy

With the rapidly changing nature of the Covid-19 outbreak, information and advice from the government can change quickly. For all the latest government information on Covid-19 and the measurements the government are taking, please visit this page.

At Ealing Street Dance Academy, we have taken all the necessary steps to ensure a safe environment for children, teachers and parents whilst still providing the highest standard of service.

We have been following government guidelines throughout the pandemic, and we’ll be making a few changes to how we run the Academy from September 2020 onwards.

Please see below for the COVID-Secure measurements being introduced at ESDA:

Drop off and collection

Parents are no longer allowed to enter the school building and wait while their child takes their class.

Parents need to sign in their child at the designated areas outside the main entrance of the school and collect them at the end of the class from outside the main entrance.

Exception for parents bring under 5s to their first class
Parents bringing an under-5 to their first class will be taken through a separate entrance and can watch their child’s first class.

These parents will need to use hand sanitiser when they enter and wear a face covering when walking through the building.

Social distancing and hygiene

Before and after each class, all dancers will be asked to use hand sanitiser.

During class, we will be using social distancing measures as much as is possible with young children. When they can, children will dance with a 2m space between them. When this isn’t possible we will always try to achieve a 1m space.

Inevitably, there’ll be times where social distancing isn’t possible – for example, during certain dance formations and working towards shows and performances, but at all other times, we’ll maintain the appropriate distancing.

Face masks

Government advice and recommendations from the World Health Organisation state that face masks should NOT be worn during exercise as masks may reduce the ability to breathe comfortably. Furthermore, sweat can make the mask become wet more quickly which makes it difficult to breathe and promotes the growth of microorganisms.

Therefore, it is understood that the risks of wearing a mask whilst exercising outweigh the benefits so we will not be asking our dancers to wear masks.

We will, of course, be continuing to follow the government’s advice on this. If they change their recommendations then so will we.

School Premises cleaning

The school building is cleaned before and after ESDA are in on Saturdays.

The ESDA staff will also clean surfaces and maintain the cleanliness of work areas, door handles, bannisters and other surfaces which are touched regularly throughout the day.

ESDA staff and teachers will also regularly wash their hands and use sanitiser before and after classes.

Test & Trace and unwell dancers

If your child shows symptoms of COVID-19 please don’t bring them to class.

Symptoms include:
• A high temperature
• A new, continuous cough
• A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste

If your child develops symptoms after their class, please let us know immediately. They’ll need to be tested for COVID and receive a negative result before they can return to class.

If your child tests positive for COVID, please let us know straight away. We’ll then contact the parents of every child in that class. They’ll be asked to self-isolate for 14 days. This will include the teacher of the class who will be asked to test for Covid-19 before returning to work.

Anyone who displays symptoms of COVID-19 should get a test. Tests can be booked online here or ordered by telephone via NHS 119 for those without access to the internet.

Water bottles

Water fountains will not be in use. In keeping with most schools, the water fountains have been cut off for safety reasons, so please give your child a bottle of water to take to class.

Dancers who need to self-isolate

Unfortunately, we cannot refund or credit classes when dancers need to self-isolate.
