All children must attend the dress rehearsal on Sunday 19 June at the Exchange Theatre, Twickenham.
The times are:
- Cast A: 9.00 am – 1.00 pm
- Cast B: 1.30 pm – 5.30 pm
Parents should drop their child(ren) at the Exchange Theatre at their rehearsal start time and collect them at their rehearsal end time.
It’s vital all children attend this rehearsal. It’s the only chance they’ll get to practise in their costumes, on the stage they’ll be performing on, under the theatre lights.
This rehearsal will also greatly ease any nerves they may have, as they’ll know exactly what to expect on Show Day.
For the Under 5s, we ask parents to remain at the theatre for the dress rehearsal. You won’t need to stay for the full rehearsal – you can leave as soon as your child(ren) has practised their routines. We’ll practise the Under 5s routines first so you can take your child as soon as possible.
Saturday 7th May – all classes continue as normal
Saturday 14th May – all classes continue as normal
Saturday 21st May – all classes continue as normal
Saturday 28th May – all classes continue as normal
Saturday 4th June – no classes (half-term break)
Saturday 11th June – all classes continue as normal
Saturday 18 June – we are running a different schedule
Instead of our normal classes, all children will do a run-through of the show at our usual Montpelier School site:
- Cast A: 9.00 am – 11.30 am
- Cast B: 12.00 pm – 2.30 pm
It’s very important your child attends the run-through so they know what to expect on Show Day.
Please note: the run-through times above replace your child’s usual class with the exception of Unbreakable, Fierce, Dynamite and Senior Crew.
We’ve tried to keep costume costs as low as possible and have sourced them from eBay and Amazon.
We’ll soon send you the links to your child’s costume(s) via the parents’ WhatsApp groups.
Most children are in two routines, so you’ll receive two links.
Any groups requiring more than two costumes will be notified via the WhatsApp group.
If you can’t find the correct size using the link provided, please feel free to find the same costume elsewhere. Please make sure the costume is identical as it’s very important all dancers look the same on stage.
If you’re not on the WhatsApp group for your child’s class, please tell us ASAP, as this is also where we post videos of the classes so the children can practise their routines.
ESDA T-shirt for the finale
Every child needs an ESDA T-shirt or ESDA vest for the show finale.
If you don’t already have one, please see Ruth or Danielle.
The T-shirts and vests are £12.00 each.
When to arrive
Cast A: Saturday 25 June
Children should arrive at the Exchange Theatre at 2.00 pm except for Under 5s who should arrive at 2.45 pm.
Cast B: Sunday 26 June
Children should arrive at the Exchange Theatre at 1.00 pm except for Under 5s who should arrive at 1.45 pm.
What happens between the matinee and evening performances
On both days, there’s a break between the matinee performance and the evening performance – we’ll look after your child backstage during this time.
If you’d like to take your child out during the break, please email us to let us know.
If your child is 16 or older, and you’re happy for them to leave the theatre in between the two performances, we must have written consent from you (an email is fine).
Any children that leave the theatre during the break must return no more than 45 minutes before the second performance begins.
Note for Under 5s only
The Under 5s are performing in the matinee performance only.
During the interval, we’ll bring your child out to the foyer/bar area so you can give them encouragement and reassurance.
We’ll then take them backstage just before the interval ends.
At the end of the matinee performance, the under 5s will be the first group of children brought out to their parents.
What children should wear
All children should arrive at the Exchange Theatre:
- in their first costume
- hair and make-up already done
What children should bring
All children should bring:
- One bag containing their other costume(s), with their name and group, clearly marked on it
- A second bag containing:
- extra hair bands, brush and grips
- large t-shirt to wear over their costume while they eat (so their costume stays clean)
- big packed lunch but no nuts, please
- book or other small activity to keep them occupied backstage – we strongly discourage electronic devices or anything valuable as we’re not responsible for anything that gets lost
